“You told me about your past, and I told you about mine; we marveled at our similarities. We couldn’t believe that someone else existed that thought the same. I also couldn’t believe that I found someone funnier than me […] The more time I spent with you, the more I craved to be around you.” Natalie’s words to Aedan carried the perfect mix of humor and delight. Those same words, humor and delight, are an accurate representation of their entire wedding day. He’s from England, she’s from America, they met in Mexico, and their worlds’ collided once again as friends and family from all three places gathered in the middle of nowhere in Eastern Washington to celebrate their love.
Before meeting Aedan, he wrote in an email (about their wedding), “It’s a celebration and we’re doing it our way.” Reading that set the bar high; nothing can top a wedding where the couple forgoes the ‘norm’ and highlights what matters most to them. This wedding did exactly that: highlighted what matters. Five family members led the ceremony, each one bringing a different element of joy and depth to their day. The reception echoed this pattern; full of hearty conversation and laughter, the depth remained. Peace lingered. It was the type of wedding that felt right. Even the smoke from Eastern Washington wild fires added an element of togetherness. Dreamy light, people together, wonderful toasts – this wedding will be remembered fondly. When a couple makes sense, when the personalities line up just so, the story that follows is sure to be a good one. Natalie and Aedan, I can’t wait to hear stories about your travels, your dreams, and your accomplishments together. Thank you for allowing me to document your wedding day.
