The Olympic Peninsula is a special place for Mikayla and TJ. Not only did they get married at Fort Worden in Port Townsend, they also made their wedding rings together prior to that in the same area. For couples looking for a great date idea, this is a fun one. After partnering with Stephanie Selle, jeweler and teacher extraordinaire, they walked away with heirloom-quality rings to exchange during their vows on one of the best days of their lives. Check out these photos from their experience, and then go read all about how to book your own experience on Stephanie’s website, With These Rings. Read on to see what Mikayla and TJ took away from this experience.
After reflecting on his personal experience, TJ wrote, “My favorite part of the process was knowing throughout that I was making the ring Mikayla would wear forever, and watching her work on mine at the same time. It was so meaningful to know that I was taking something that looked nothing like a ring and making it into the symbol of our marriage, because I know that that is basically what God has done with me – he has prepared and shaped me so that I would be ready for marriage.”
Mikayla, also blown away by the experience, said, “The whole process was so cool, learning how, as Stephanie said, “science, magic, and heart” come together to take strips of metal and shaping them into these radiant and unique bands. Just as TJ said, it is what God has done with us, shaping us for each other, and by His grace, empowering us to shape one another. It was so special, so precious and meaningful to make each other’s bands, knowing that we will get to keep forever such beautiful symbols of how we have shaped and will continue to shape each other for the rest of our days.”
“I was so thankful for the experience,” Mikayla said, after everything was wrapped up. “Stephanie did such a great job instructing and informing us on the process, demonstrating, and giving us the freedom to fully engage in each step of the process for ourselves. So I felt really empowered and encouraged by the whole process. I am so thankful for the memories we made during that day, and the ones that we will get to make for the rest of our lives.”
