There’s no doubt that Washington has a lot of texture, but when it comes to the beaches, they remain unparalleled. ‘Rocky’ in every sense of the word, it’s uncommon to find a beach in this state where sand meets the water. The shores of Washington often breath a moody vibe; Deception Pass is no exception. With dramatic skies, a couple in love, and a perfect Northwest shore, this shoot went off without a hitch. Meet Caitlin and Joe. These two are in love, in love, IN LOVE. Can you tell? While I could write this whole post about them, I’d love to focus on the vendors who made it happen; they will be listed throughout this post. Catie and I have both wanted to do a styled shoot for awhile now, so when she presented the idea of tackling something together, I was in.
The day began at Eclipz Salon where Hanna K Jones worked her magic on Caitlin’s hair. I’ve known Hanna since high school, and as she’s developed her work through the years, I can testify that she only gets better. If you need a hair stylist for your elopement, wedding, event, or anything else, Hanna knows how make you feel celebrated and look beautiful.
Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery is an icon in the Northwest, so when it came to figuring out who to feature in the shoot, we wanted someone local, and Chateau Ste. Michelle was our first choice. If you haven’t tasted their wine, check their website for where you can purchase it in your area; don’t be dismayed if you live outside of the states, they are international!
Our amazing makeup artist, Mackenzie, owner of Beauty by Kenzie met us in the morning to prepare for the day. She created a beautiful, natural look for Caitlin. This was the first time that I’ve worked with Mackenzie, and I walked away extremely satisfied. If you need a makeup artist in the Seattle area, she’s your girl!
Envelope hand-lettering done by Rachel, owner of Third and Birch. She is kind as she is talented, and anyone who chooses her to address their envelopes will be wowed by her quality and expertise. I’ve been working with Rachel for about a year now, and everything she creates is gold. Contact her at: thirdandbirchshop@gmail.com.
The Dress Theory has incredible dresses, and although we picked out a skirt, all of their dresses are top of the line. Check out their store in Seattle (or Nashville, or San Diego, if that’s closer).
Invitation Designer / place cards / menu: Olivia is one of the sweetest, most humble people you will ever meet. She went above and beyond in designing the paper goods for this shoot, and the result couldn’t have been better. Contact her at: clementso@spu.edu.
Beckie and Alyssa at Vintage Ambiance provided the furniture and table top rentals; we were blown away at their customer service and knowledge. Every piece in Vintage Ambiance’s collection is hand-picked and cared for. Alyssa walked us through their storage space, and we both agreed that there couldn’t possibly be enough time in the world to ‘Ooh’ and ‘Awe’ over everything that they offer. If you need to rent anything for your event, contact them pronto. From dishes, to rugs, to tables, to chandeliers, they’ve got it all.
Dominique, owner of Chalk Artistry & Design created a custom piece for this session (a quote by e.e. cummings), and the result was even better than I imagined it would be. If you need chalkboard art for your wedding, or beautiful artwork for your home, reach out and meet Dominique. She won’t disappoint.
Every single arranged bloom in this session is from a talented woman named Sheila; she is the ideal florist – if you’re a prospective bride, I’d highly recommend her. She went to great lengths to gather everything for this shoot, and I can’t tell you enough about her kindness and excellent communication. If you need a florist for your wedding or event, she will work with you to nail your vision and deliver gorgeous bouquets and other floral needs. Contact her at: sheila@bloomingcanvas.net .

Katie, these photographs are stunning! We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with you, and can’t wait to collaborate again in the future. Big things are ahead for you, my dear!
